Current News

Since the middle of August with Michelle leading the way, Noreen, Mandy, Peter, Tracey, Angela, Janet, Kim, Tracy Fraser and since September, Jane have been working flat out to get the new curriculum up and running. New cases, lecture materials and schedules have been processed and loaded onto electronic systems. Faculty have been working hard to develop the new curriculum and everything seemed to arrive the week before classes started! To add to this, ITC (introduction to clerkship) was revised, we were introducing a rotating elective for first year students and a new elective experience for third year students. Our second year students had helped with a brand new orientation program for the distributed campus and were also learning how to use ONE45 and OWL.

Curriculum Renewal News

In 2009 Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine engaged in curriculum renewal. The objective was to ensure that the outcomes of the medical program meet societal needs and the needs of students entering residency education.  The goal was to bring faculty, students, staff, community stakeholders and other medical education leaders together to review and develop overarching objectives of the MD curriculum. The goals of the curriculum were defined through a consensus process which were then defined and developed into a concept map. This visual provides the direction for curriculum renewal and all elements of the curriculum we will cover during the MD program.
